Cyril Healy

When Passage were competing successfully in the minor grade in the South-East division a player who stood out in practically all their games was Cyril Healy. This should not have come as a surprise as his father Paddy and uncle Bill were very prominent on the hurling front in the passage club both on and off the field.

In 1951 Cyril followed another member of his family, his cousin Christy, when he made his way on to the Cork minor hurling panel. Christy had been the first Passage player to play minor hurling for Cork in 1931 and 1932 but unfortunately without any success.

Cyril fared better however when he became the first of only three passage players to win a minor All-Ireland hurling medal when Cork won the 1951 title. Cyril was underage again the following year but as he got very short notice of a trial game in the Mardyke and was unable to organise transport to get there, he was not considered for the team.

In 1956 he transferred to play with the Barrs but when Passage attained senior status in 1961 he returned the following year where he played many fine games for his native club.
