Feb 14th 2912 - Minor Football Vs Fermoy

Written by Administrator

Well done to the minors tonight with a hard fought draw away to Fermoy. 0-6 all at half time facing into a strong wind on a huge pitch but the players put in a tremendous second half performance that saw them unlucky not to come away with the win. The ref awarded a harsh free to Fermoy in front of the posts which brought them level 0-9 each with almost the last kick of the game. A big thanks to those who provided transport and to the supporters who travelled to the match.

Passage won the Minor A Football league title against Blarney on a very good Mayfield surface, playing with a strong breeze Passage got some lovely points from play and ended the first half with a goal from Ryan Carroll. Passage went into the break 1-10 to 0-00 but they faced into the wind and Passage supporters and mentors knew we would have an uphill battle to keep Blarney at bay.Passage scorers in the first half were Ryan Carroll 1-05, Gary Tett 0-02, Niall O'Connor 0-01, and Jack Sommers 0-02.

Nov 26th 2011 - U15 Football Championship Final

Written by Administrator

Today's match was played in a gale force wind and it was always going to be the proverbial game of two halves. Unfortunately Passage lost the toss and had to play with the wind in the first half. After 15 minutes, with no score from either side, Anthony Kidney opened the scoring with a free. Passage drove on with another Kidney free and a free from Dara Murphy. After a superb team move, Ross McMahon scored a great goal and Dara Murphy scored a great point from way out on the wing. Blarney finished the half wih a point to make it 1-04 to a point at half time.

Poor weather conditions before this match meant that a spectacular game of football was unlikely and that a dogfight would ensue instead. But in the end this game provided everything, with some superb fielding, point taking, and interplay on display from both teams and a tough uncompromising contest on top of that.

Passage began slowly, allowing Youghal a head start of 3 points. Two pointed frees by Anto Kidney brought Passage into the game, but a youghal goal shortly afterwards gave us an uphill battle. at 1-5 to 2 points down it looked like it was going to be one of those bad nights for Passage, but a great point from Cian Power and a Kidney cracker of a goal brought us to half time 1-7 to 1-4 behind.

Oct 2nd 2011 - Passage U11 Hurling Blitz

Written by Administrator

Passage Under 11's hosted an 11 a-side hurling blitz at Manning Park on Sunday 2nd October 2011 with 5 visiting teams: Bishopstown, Brian Dillons, Carrig na BhFear, Tracton and Mayfield.  We split the blitz into 2 groups - Passage, Brian Dillons and Carrig na BhFear playing on the main pitch and - Bishopstown, Tracton and Mayfield playing on the new pitch.

Passage fe 13 hurlers played Inniscarra in the Championship semi-final in stormy conditions in Togher on Saturday. Passage played with the elements in the first half which was ruined by a 12 minute squal. Passage got the first two points from Ronan Harrington and Thomas O’Neill but missed a couple of good chances when Iniscarra got there first point in the 15th minute, from the son of former Passage player Tony Scott and they scored a goal just after this. Inniscarra got another 2 points from play and then Passage came back into the match with a fine goal and then a point from Cathal McCarthy.

PASSAGE 5-4 TRACTON 2-3

Passage U 11s played Tracton on the new pitch at Manning Park on Wed evening in a highly competitive and entertaining 12 a side hurling match.

Tracton started stronger in the first few minutes and they duly took the lead with a fine point and they had a couple of wides too before Passage upped the ante and started to dominate around midfield through Josh Clarke, Michael Sheehan and Mark Coughlan and in the half back line through Jamie O Sullivan and Luke Tett.

Passage Under 11's took part in a football blitz on Thursday evening hosted by Shamrocks GAA Club.  We played games against Cobh and Shamrocks. We played in the first game against the hosts, 12 v 12.  Passage made a great start and went 2-1 to 0-2 ahead by the break with some great passing and interplay between backs and forwards.  Shane Brosnan and Conor Lester combined very well in a 2 man full forward line with Shane scoring one goal and setting up the other before adding a lovely point from his trusty left boot.
