Shane Maxwell and Fiachra Kelleher were excellent in defence during this period, with Ronan Harrington at centre back also hurling well. Up front Thomas O Neill got a great point from play and battled well, while Liam Cotter also created many scoring chances but was unlucky not to get any reward for his efforts. At full forward Conor Ryan battled hard and is improving as the season progresses. To add to our troubles, we left in a terribly soft goal that really should have been cleared by our keeper Cathal O Connor at his ease but we all make mistakes as we learn the art of hurling. Cathal saves many more than he lets in, so its important to praise him for knuckling down and playing really well in the second half.
The second half saw some of our more established players raising their game. David Mathwews came on at corner forward and made a huge impact. He scored 1-02 and competed very well. Ronan Harrington and David Power were very accurate from frees, Liam Cotter got two points from play and generally our hurling started to put Mallow under all sorts of pressure.
We dominated possession, the ball rarely passed a much improved half back line where Eoin Walsh came thundering into the game and Ronan Harrington caught and delivered some excellent balls to our forwards. All of our four subs on the night got a run as we ran out 1-13 to 1-06 winners at the final whistle. Well done to all the lads for a very solid second half, we were five points down at one point and its great to see them grind out a win from this position.
The previous week we beat Killeagh / Itas on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-06. This was an excellent game of hurling and we were thrilled with this win. There is no doubt that is competition is good for our players, they are learning much from the more traditional hurling clubs in the county.
We have four games left in the competition, we hopefully will get one more game in before the summer break. The games will get harder from now on as we will be coming up against some strong opposition. We have much improving to do but there is no doubt the few wins will help the lads greatly.
Good luck to the Feile Footballers in the coming weeks, please support them if you have an hour to spare. Its on in Cork this year so its great opportunity and experience for our boys and girls.

The Passage under 14 hurlers made it three from three in the Premier 2 Hurling league on Wednesday night when they beat Mallow on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-6.
It must be said that Passage did not put in a great first half with only a few players at the level required for this competition. We dominated the first 20 mins but only had two points on the score board.
