June 17th - Passage Minor Hurling Vs Blackwater Rovers

Written by  Administrator

Passage minor non exam team travelled to Rathcormac on Friday night to play Blackwater Rovers (amalgamation of Killavullen and Ballyhooley) in the league final, and in a tough hard fought championship type game, and were unlucky not to come away with the spoils.

Passage played into a strong wind in the first half and the defense with Gary Tett in goals and Cork fe 16 panellist Cian Power and junior player Ross McAuliffe outstanding held the opposition to 0-07 points and all Passage first half scores came from Ryan Carroll which featured a lovely struck goal to give him 1-03. Passage lost half forward Darragh Driscoll to a rib injury during the first half and was replaced by Anthony Kidney.

Passage turned with the wind at their backs but it was Blackwater Rovers who started better and got a couple of points before Ryan Carroll again got a couple of long range points to bring us back into the game. Passage forwards Niall O’Connor and goalkeeper Gary Tett, who was brought outfield for the last 12 minutes, scored a point each, (Blackwater Rovers scored 0-07pts) and then Ryan Carroll ran through on goal and was un-mercifully chopped down with only 3 minutes to go but the ref only gave a 20m free and amazingly left the opposition player off. The resultant free was missed and Blackwater Rovers finished the stronger and just deserved their victory by the minimum, 0-14 pt to 1-10. Ryan Carroll finished with a tally of 1-08.

This league was great preparation for harder days ahead and was of great benefit for manager Tomás Lester and coach Billy Cotter.

Cumann an Phasáiste send our sincerest sympathy to minor player Sean Synan Keogh and his family on their recent bereavement.
