Passage v Blarney - U15 Championship Final Passage v Blarney - U15 Championship Final

Today's match was played in a gale force wind and it was always going to be the proverbial game of two halves. Unfortunately Passage lost the toss and had to play with the wind in the first half. After 15 minutes, with no score from either side, Anthony Kidney opened the scoring with a free. Passage drove on with another Kidney free and a free from Dara Murphy. After a superb team move, Ross McMahon scored a great goal and Dara Murphy scored a great point from way out on the wing. Blarney finished the half wih a point to make it 1-04 to a point at half time.

From the beginning of the second half right to the finish Passage were on the back foot facing into the gale. A massive defensive effort followed with every defender putting in trojan work. Blarney scored two goals in quick succession and then went ahead by a point. Passage fought back with a goal from Cian Power and a pointed free from Anto Kidney. Wave after wave of Blarney attacks followed and it was impossible to deny them points. In the end Blarney won it by a single point. Final score Blarney 2-06 Passage 2-05.

On the day Passage gave an outstanding team performance with every player a hero. Passage now move on to the County Championship semi-final, probably under lights, the week after next and in a strange twist could finish up meeting Blarney again in the County final if both teams win their semi-finals.
