Junior B Football
Passage 3—08 Bishopstown 1—06
Passage Junior B Football team advanced to the second round of the City division junior B Football championship and a repeat of last years final against the Barrs after a well deserved victory over Bishopstown a rain swept Ballinlough on Saturday evening last.
After a very tame opening period Garry McCarthy put Passage on the scoreboard with a fine opening point after five minutes. Shane Burke increased the lead with a another point after 9 minutes, before Bishopstown registered their first point from a free on 12 minutes.
The conditions were very poor with rain sweeping across the pitch and it did not help the players. Bishopstown were level two points all on 17 minutes, before Johnny Byrnes put Passage back in front with a very good point on the run. Bishopstown were level for the second time three minutes later. Passage on top in midfield through Robert Parata and Eoin Murphy got a vital breakthrough on 26 minutes when after a very good combination play Parata hit a low ball past the Bishopstown keeper to put Passage 1—03 to 3pts, Points from Niall McCarthy and Eoin Murphy followed to let Passage in control 1-04 to 3 points at the break.
The second half saw no let up in the weather as both teams battled the elements. Bishopstown cut the lead back to one score 1—04 to 4 points with a well taken free.
Passage response saw Graham Carroll put over a point, Bishopstown again cut the arrears to 1 goal before Passage struck for what was the deciding moment in the game after 42 minutes.
Rory Parata won a good ball around the middle, laid it off to Graham Carroll who in turn put a good ball across the box for Johnny Byrnes to finish off with a superb first time flick past a helpless Bishopstown keeper. From their to the finish it was all Passage as they completely dominated the game. Graham Carroll had a very good goal when he beat some backs before hammering the ball home with ten minutes remaining, 3—05 to 5points. Further points from Carroll, Eoin Murphy and Shane Burke let Passage run out comfortable winners 0n a scoreline 3—08 to 1—06. Bishopstown getting their goal with three minutes remaining.
On a night when Passage were just too good for Bishopstown, you had good performers in Anto Kidney in goal, Peter Walsh, Eoin Murphy, Rory Prata, while Graham Carroll and Johnny Byrnes never stopped all night.
U15 Football
UNDER 15 FOOTBALL BLITZ
Passage Under 15 football team won the Munster Touch 10 aside football blitz played at Manning Park last Saturday evening. Passage qualified for the Munster Finals which will be played at Mallow on Saturday week.
Kilshannig and Bishopstown were the other completing teams and they played out a draw in the opening game played in shocking wintry conditions.
Passage gave a great display in their opening game against Kilshannigh with Jamie O’Sullivan doing most of the scoring. Jack Stapleton chipped the keeper for a great goal, while Shane Brosnan and Cathal Taffe also chipped in with good goals as Passage set up a decider with Bisopstown. Cathal Taffe done very well in goal, while Dylan Walls covered a lot of ground with Josh Clarke in the middle. Jack and Conor Lester with Sean O’Mahony kept a firm grip on the Kilshannig forwards throughout.
Passage carried their good performance in to the second match against Bishopstown with two fast goals despite playing against the strong wind. They led at the break 4—02 to 1—0 for the visitors.
Bishopstown came more in the game in the second half, but the Passage keeper Sean Harrington was in inspired form , making 4 one on one saves to deny them goals. Once again Jamie Sullivan was among the goal scores as Passage raced up an impressive 6—5 in 24 minutes.
Dylan Walls, Conor Lester dominated, while jack Lester made strong runs forward as Passage ran out comfortable winners on a 6—05 to 2—0 goals for Bishopstown.
Minor Hurling
Passage 13 pts. Valley Rovers 11 pts.
Passage Minor team put in a very good performance to beat Valley Rovers by two points in the Minor Hurling non exam league played at Manning Park on Friday night last.
Both teams served up some great hurling during a very tough encounter that saw the lead change hands on a number of occasions.
But it was Passage that came through the stronger at the end with Ronan Harrington and Liam Cotter being the outstanding players for the home side.
Junior A Football
Our Junior A Footballers will play their second round of the Junior A Football championship against Bishopstown at Ballinlough next Saturday evening. Passage lost to Douglas, while Bisopstown lost to Nemo Rangers in the first round. Once again we expect all our supporters to be at Ballinlough to shout on our lads.

Family Day
Once again the club ran a very successful Family Day at Manning Park on Sunday last. Despite the inclement weather a big crowd were in attendance as the children availed of the many entertainments on offer.
A big thanks must go to the organisers and helpers on the day, also a big thanks to Oonagh and her staff who kept the crowd watered and fed during the afternoon.
Lotto
Jackpot 200 Euro, Numbers drawn were as follows, 10---16 18, no winner. 3x 20 winners as follows, Ken Whelan, Sandra Kind, Dave Maxwell.
Once again we are asking members to buy tickets as it’s our main source of income for the year. A 2Euro coin will buy a line every week, which is not too much to ask.
Pasaiste Og
Pasaiste Og continue to be held at Manning Park on every Friday evening from 5—45 to 7—15. This is a great way to introduce the young children to our game, Hurling, Football and Camogie, The sessions are always conducted with qualified coaches. We are asking all family’s in the community to bring along their children aged 5 to 10 for the Summer months and get involved. The clubhouse is open and you can avail of a cup of tea or coffee while your children are learning the various games.
